But one industry, in particular, is giving Hollywood a run for its money. From the fiscal year of 2008 to present day, the film industry in Atlanta, Georgia has generated billions & billions of dollars in revenue. City, County, State and Federal officials with pull, are rallying around Atlanta to continue to boost the economy and attract worldwide/global tourism through the successful film tax incentives. The film industry in Atlanta has galvanized and uplifted all genres of business from Mom and Pop to Fortune 500. Below are a few examples of how Atlanta Georgia became the #1 film production location in the world.

In 2015 Marvel Studios shocked the world by partnering with Pinewood Atlanta Studios in Fayetteville Georgia. 

In 2019 Tyler Perry became the first black owner of a film production studio outright in Atlanta.

Visionary Dan T. Cathy rebranded Pinewood Atlanta Studios to Trilith Studios in 2019.

Tyler Perry takes his film studio to the next level virtually with a 2026 new partnership.

Twenty amazing women who united forces & formed the Reel Divas have brought major attention & recognition to Black Women working in the Atlanta film industry. They are responsible for writing, producing & directing many of your favorite movies and tv shows. Co-Founder of the Reel Divas Ty Johnston-Chavis, is also Founder/Owner of the Atlanta Pitch Summit

Peachtree Village International Film Festival Founders Len Gibson & James “JB” Brown have established the longest running African American owned film festival in Atlanta. They celebrated 20 years in 2025. Many Hollywood film industry executives and industry professionals attended this event throughout the years.

The Atlanta Jewish Festival is the longest running film festival in Atlanta history. They celebrated 26 years in the beginning of 2026. These festivals all contributed to taking Atlanta Georgia to the next level & securing that Entertainment Capital spot. The entire world is watching!
